The first article written from Milano, on the #coronavirus situation in Italy, and why the contagion started so fast.

Coronavirus has officially landed in Europe since early February, with very few cases, but suddenly between 21 and 23 of this month, there was an escalation of numbers in North Italy.

The numbers are changing fastly and Italy took the third place looking at the number of cases of new coronavirus.

But why this escalation?

An unfortunate start

The epicenter of the new wave was the small town of Codogno, south of Lodi, a town near Milan.
Unfortunately for Italy, the “patient 1” — a 38 year old from Codogno — has been characterised by a particularly active social life.

It’s a father of a family with a pregnant wife in the eighth month, who may have contracted COVID-19 during a dinner with an Italian manager who returned from China (who would later have tested negative).

Over its next 15–20 days, there were 2 running races, a half marathon in Liguria and a non-competitive march, the CSI championship football games, and some dinners. Also the Unilever company in Casalpusterlengo is another infected…
